PRAGMATIC
PANIC
Pragmatic Panic is a project that brings together creative thinkers and content creators to evaluate the potential for impending crises. This initiative serves as a wake-up call for policymakers and stakeholders to address critical issues and prolong our world’s survival.
We are witnessing the fallout from negative incentives of a consumer culture with no limits, the rise of powerful and disruptive technologies, climate change and other global shocks. The breakdown in collective action, driven by game theoretical principles like the free rider problem, the tragedy of the commons, the prisoner's dilemma, the collective risk social dilemma, and suboptimal Nash equilibria at various levels of society, has fragmented our communities and weakened multilateral cooperation.
Society has become atomized, turning once-cohesive networks into weakly connected nodes. Many in the affluent world remain detached from the realities of wars, unaware of the potential pain they might endure and desensitized to ongoing conflicts. Meanwhile, there is a tendency to cling to outdated values, ignoring the complexities of our current era.
Pragmatic Panic aims to highlight these significant political, economic, sociocultural, and security challenges. By addressing these critical issues, we aim to ignite discussions and propose concrete solutions to navigate the tumultuous times ahead. Join us as we confront these threats and work to stave off potential crises.
